Elizabeth Grossi started this petition to Department of Education and

Nation wide school bus driver shortage.  We are required to meet DOT standards and carry Federal mandated licenses we deserve to be paid what we are worth.   We are asking for a $25.00 minimum wage for every CDL School bus driver.  If you want people to apply for these jobs they need to be paid what they are worth. Our kids are missing school due to lack of drivers. Many current drivers are doing extra to make up for the lack of drivers, we are abused by students, parents, and treated as unskilled labor by most school administrators. Every School Bus Driver is licensed and Governed by the DOT.  We are skilled hold CDL licenses. We deserve to be paid our worth.

Nation wide every state is facing critical shortage of bus drivers. Currently the pay is determined by individual states and local government. By having a Federal minimum wage more people would apply for these job vacancies. Some school districts are paying parents up to $500 a month to transport thier own kids. You can find money to pay parents but won't increase the transportation staffs wages. This is insulting to transportation staff who has stayed on during this crisis
