I want to expand the definition of a hate crime because so many things happen to people that should be considered a hate crime. For example; hair discrimination- Hair discrimination is usually targeted towards black people making people think that black hair is unprofessional this discrimination perpetuates the problem. black hair has frequently been seen as being "unprofessional", "unattractive," and "unclean". Some students were subject to this for example; Two students were given detention for wearing box-braids. This makes black women feel like they don't deserve their school time because of their hair. This has a lot of psychological impacts, making black women feel like they have to change not only their hair but their identity. If this changes black hair will no longer be considered "unprofessional". Colored people can be proud of their hair and don't have to feel the need to hide it. More people will be able to express themselves freely.
