"oh edi, ikaw na matalino", "ikaw na magaling, ako na bobo", "Ang dami mong alam!" - we most commonly hear these words in a middle of a typical conversation when it supposed to be an exchange of ideas, one would act that way. When someone has something interesting to say, the other party would raise their metaphorical response as if the person who has unique thoughts to share make them feel stupid and the conversation goes to smart-shaming or perceived as a threat to intellectualism. Instead of practicing the culture of intelligence, this modern pinoy culture seem to hold ourselves back from intellectualism. This popular filipino culture seemed ignorant, we tend to see intellectualism as a threat or a negative trait.
Let's stop the culture of Anti-intellectualism (smart-shaming) and start celebrating intellectual exchange of ideas.
