Last year the 6 years had the choice of either sitting the leaving certificate exam, or getting predicted grades from all of their class tests through fifth year and sixth year. As you know Learning last year was very hard because of Covid-19, missing school and then attending online school, there are students who did not have access to online school, did not have a proper place to concentrate or found it very hard to learn in these circumstances. it affected all schools and all years but it affected the senior cycle students the worse, because their grades and education mattered the most at that time. In my personal opinion i think it would be very hard for a sixth year this year to sit their exam, as 5 year is the hardest year from senior cycle because that’s when you start taking all of the information in, that’s when you learn the basics of the subjects and the fact that we have missed 3 months of education in school and instead online school is very troubling. if we have the choice of sitting the exam of predicted grades it makes everything a lot easier. For those who had no problem with online school can sit the exam and the others should have the choice of predicted grades. Predicted grades give you the over all (approximate) grade that is combined of all your class tests (including summer and christmas exams) it shows how capable you are of the subject as it is not based on just one or two papers it is based on all of your education in the senior cycle.  I know i and thousands of other students need to have the choice of predicted grades For the 2022 leaving certificate.
