When students reach Middle School, they are invited to IEP meetings. The term disability is mentioned during the meeting. It is the protocol as stated in the law. When students sit through the meeting it is emotionally draining. When the term “disability” is used in the meeting, it only adds to the stress.Parents teach their child to feel as normal as they can and this term is not true to all capabilities of a child.
