Samantha Lee started this petition to Department of Education

Students due to sit exams in the summer of 2021 have not had any consistent teaching since the first lockdown. They have missed almost a year of face  to face education which is not adequately substituted by online tuition. Many lessons have been cancelled completely due to illness within the teaching staff also.

The 2020 examinations were cancelled due to the pandemic and this years students are at a much greater disadvantage yet are being told they must sit them. Offering concessions does not relieve the stress the students are feeling or the impact on their mental health. With discussions in place for a further closure of schools there is no indication that the situation is likely to improve at all in the near future.

The 2021 GCSE and A-level assessment process should be reviewed and grades issued based on coursework and performance over the course duration rather than on a final examination.
