We all know education has been massively disrupted in the last six months. Why are politicians and exam boards wasting time, deciding which bits of the curriculum should be dropped, and when pupils should sit their exams? Why aren't we ensuring that children and young people find a way to love learning, again? Why aren't we spending all our time making sure that every moment they spend in school is invested in their future, encouraging them to absorb as much knowledge as possible and finding ways to inspire self supported study, which is going to be a necessary tool to help their learning going forwards. 

We need to stop thinking about exams. Let teachers do what they do so well - teach. Let all pupils study right until the summer holidays. Drop the idea of ​​exams right now. That way, all pupils will have an extra 3 months of learning. They will have a reinvigorated love of education. They will have time to find confidence again and to pick up what they have missed. I trust teachers every day, to look after my child. I know I can trust them to estimate an appropriate exam grade. Stop the nonsense of wondering whether students will have to sit an exam (or not) and let teachers concentrate on supporting learning. 

Make a decision now, politicians. Stop playing with the lives of our young people. Let them learn, don't make them tick boxes.
