March is known as the Fire Prevention Month in the Philippines since this is the month when the temperature and humidity starts to increase. The hot and dry causes problem such as health impacts, loss of natural resources, and fire.
Fire is form of energy we use everyday. We use it for lighting, cooking, and warmth. Although we often manipulate it, many are still not aware of how severe the consequences are if it is not used properly. Fire can cause burns, an injury that damages the skin.
Burns cause swelling, blistering, and moderate to severe pain of the burned area. Burns incapacitate the affected area of the victim. The most common affected area are the hands and the feet which affects their daily activities.
As artists, our hands are our tools to success and we believe that people should be more aware of the impacts of burns. We also believe that this should be given more importance in the curriculum and injuries such as burns should be given the attention it needs.
Please take time to support our petition not only for the artists, but for everybody. Thank you!
