Urgent need for more student places in Belmayne Educate Together Secondary School, D 13

Our children are more than just a number

We’re a determined group of parents from Belmayne Educate Together National School who wish to see our children continue their Educate Together education at secondary level. To fulfil that wish, we need the Department of Education to increase the number of student spaces available in the nearby Belmayne ET secondary school.

Right now there’s just space for 52 pupils going into first year in 2021, which is nowhere near enough to meet demand as there are 96 children on the waiting list. (The Belmayne ET NS students in this picture are holding their number on the waiting list. Their parents have given permission for their photo to be used.)

While there are places available in faith based secondary schools in the area, parents and students wishing to continue in the Educate Together ethos have no other non-faith based option if they don’t get a place in the local Belmayne ET Secondary School. We think that’s very unfair, especially after spending eight years in an Educate Together primary school.

Belmayne ET secondary school has space and resources to add an extra class of 26 students in 2021, so all we need now is the green light from the Department of Education.

Please sign this petition so we can demonstrate to Minister for Education Norma Foley the level of support for extra student spaces in Belmayne ET Secondary School. This is all about our children’s education within an ethos we passionately believe will continue to bring out the best in them.

Thanks for your help:)
