Get US military to change rules regarding prescription medication
Service members in the military are being subject to the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice) and administrative and legal action for using prescribed medications 6 months after the dispense date but are not being informed on the limitations and change of army policies of controlled substances. There are policies out mandating service members to be informed of specific details involving medication. ALARACT 062/2011 states “4.C. (U) MILITARY TREATMENT FACILITY OR CLINIC STAFF WILL EDUCATE SOLDIERS ON THE LIMITATIONS FOR AUTHORIZED USE OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES.
4.D. (U) SOLDIERS WILL UNDERSTAND THAT CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE PRESCRIPTIONS WILL HAVE AN EXPIRATION DATE AND THAT A POSITIVE URINALYSIS AFTER THE PRESCRIPTION EXPIRATION DATE MAY RESULT IN A "NO LEGITIMATE USE" FINDING.” The government is not doing its job in educating and informing patients about this rule however they are punishing service members for essentially not knowing or being ignorant about about this rule when they fail a urinalysis because of long term prescription medication for learning and mental disorders. Even some medical staff are unaware of this policy. If you were prescribed medication for something and were not aware of this rule or support fair treatment please sign this petition to spread awareness that someone needs to change this rule because it is not impartial. Any service member facing disciplinary actions due to a prescription for a controlled substance should have all legal and administrative actions canceled if they were not briefed on the needed information and polices regarding controlled substances when receiving said substances. Every service member should be counseled on the rules and limitations of a controlled substance before the military can deem that service member unfit for duty. It is not fair to label innocent service members as drug abusers just because they were not briefed on a subject that could ruin their career
