Traffic light intervals for pedestrians tend to be in the region of around thirty seconds. This is way too short and in the case of elderly people crossing the traffic light becomes unsafe for them. Intervals for pedestrians should be extended to at least a minute. As an example I cite the situation in Germany: you are never hurried at a traffic light as a pedestrian. Here in the UK traffic is too much centred on cars.
