A campaign to increase awareness of cyclists and cycling safety

I have been a cyclist for around 3-4 years and it has changed the way I drive as well as giving me a sport that I love and a whole circle of friends I would never have known otherwise.

But recently I have noticed that there are more and more incidents on the road where uneducated drivers are causing accidents or near accidents.  The use of mobile phones by drivers is also causing distractions that lead to accidents.  Our roads are getting busier and the use of bicycles would help reduce traffic and pollution.

Many drivers are unaware of the rules in the Highway Code around cycling including safe passing and riding two abreast.

The number of serious injuries and deaths has risen over the last 10 years or so and we need to improve this if we can make cycling more popular.

A campaign along the lines of the one used to promote driver awareness of bikers would bring awareness to this issue and promote a great way of getting around.
