How wrong is this!!!!! Important information regarding childminders and childcare to related children The Department for Education is clear that funding for the free entitlement to early education for two, three and four year olds cannot be claimed by or spent on individual childminders providing childcare for related children, even if they are in receipt of funding for other children. "However, it is not the department's intention that this should apply to children related to members of staff in group settings, such as pre-schools or nurseries." A childminder may have higher qualifications, more experience and a higher Ofsted rating than a nursery or pre-school, yet if they are related to a child, they are not able to claim any funding for that child. I thought that every child mattered and that each and every 3 and 4 year old child was entitled to funding, however if a child is cared for by a relative in a childminding setting, which may employ other staff members, that child MUST change settings to access funding. Would you move your child from a good or Outstanding childminder, where children have greater opportunities, to a nursery or pre-school where the ratios can be 13 children to 1 adult This is direct discrimination against childminders
