David Smith started this petition to Department for Education and

Home educated children will likely not have a feasible path to be awarded grades for their subjects again this year, owing to the cancellation of the iGCSE exams. This means that it will not be possible to take up further education opportunities from Sept 2021 as the exams are an entry requirement.

Home education is often not a choice but a necessity for various health reasons. The cancellation of the exams, with either inadequate or no provision for exam centre assessment, means that these students will be left with no option but to defer September 2021 choices to September 2022.

These students cannot and must not be forgotten. Children in school will be awarded a grade, there has to be a fair means of providing the same to home educated children.

Please support this petition to force the government/department for education to provide a means of fairly awarding this group of students a grade in summer 2021. This will enable them to progress to the next phase of their development and ultimately become contributing members of society as quickly as possible.
