Deny Eric Wayne Boyd AIS 00216553 Parole 8-15-2024

The Issue

March 12, 1999…the day that Eric Wayne Boyd and his brother, Nathan, made a decision that destroyed my life and the lives of my family and my dad’s friends. At approximately 8:30pm on Friday, March 12, 1999, Eric Boyd and Nathan made the premeditated decision to brutally murder my dad, Joseph Daniel Sledge, Sr (AKA: Danny, Papaw, Daddy, and Danny BBQ) in his restaurant, The Galley, on the banks of Shoals Creek in Florence, AL. They forced themselves into the building as my dad was locking up, and brutally beat and murdered him for no reason other than true evil. They entered into the building unmasked, knowing they would kill him while they were there. They reportedly took only $600 and partied all weekend while high on cocaine. Their own father, scared for his own life, is the one who turned them in. He knew his kids were involved, and he took the authorities to them on March 15, 1999 where evidence was collected and Nathan told the story of how they had planned this for a while, attempting to complete their task several times but being unable to because there were witnesses that could tie them to the crime.
Nathan would be later sentenced to life without parole (and die there) due to his admission. Eric refused to speak, and a technicality allowed him to get life with the possibility of parole. A life sentence, for a life…as it should be. But, 25 years is not life, so we are asking for your help, once again, to help us keep this monster in his prison cell. Eric Wayne Boyd, AIS# 00216553, is an evil, manipulative murderer and should live out his LIFE SENTENCE and die in prison. Our streets are not safe with him breathing free air. Our family deserves the peace that he is being served justice and in his prison cell for the rest of his life. Your family deserves the same!
We are humbly asking for your support to deny Eric Wayne Boyd, AIS # 00216553, parole on August 15, 2024 as we stand before the Alabama Board of Pardons and Parole.
