Why this petition matters

During the Democratic primary debate held in Las Vegas on February 19, 2020, moderator Chuck Todd asked the simple question: "Should the person with the most delegates at the end of this primary season be the nominee even if they are short of a majority?", to which every candidate except for Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders answered some with variation of "Not necessarily."  It is quite likely that no candidate will reach a majority of delegates before the Democratic National Convention, and while we won't know the actions of the DNC or the unpledged superdelegates until the convention, I feel that it would be unacceptable for the will of the people to be overturned by the vote of party leaders and other elected officials within the DNC.

I am therefore pledging to vote in the general election for whichever Democratic candidate has won the most pledged delegates before going into the Democratic National Convention regardless of whether or not the DNC makes them the eventual nominee.  I am also petitioning the DNC and it's superdelegates to uphold the will of the people, and to nominate the candidate who has received the most pledged delegates going into the convention.

If you believe in democracy, please sign this petition and join me in pledging to vote for the candidate that wins the most pledged delegates before the convention.
