To Whom it May Concern:

I am writing you as a concerned party member and tax payer. There has been a lot of controversy over the 2020 Democratic Presidential Nominee award, and for good reason. I respectfully ask that you consider what I have to say and understand that I am not alone in my convictions.

Just as I refuse to vote for a candidate with several sexual assault allegations brought against him who openly brags about abusing his power to coerce women into sexual acts, I refuse to vote for another candidate with sexual assault allegations brought against him simply because he may be “not as bad as the other candidate”. Assault is assault, and it is appalling to me that the party that claims to support and believe women, the party that stood behind the #MeToo movement, would consider endorsing such a man. Joe Biden himself asserted that we should believe victims of assault, why should we disbelieve a victim simply because he is the one being accused? I urge you to reconsider your endorsement of Joe Biden. As an advocate for women’s rights and a woman myself, I cannot compromise my value system in order to vote for Mr. Biden. I know I am one person, but considering the Democratic party paints itself as a party that considers human rights to be of the utmost importance, I believe that endorsing Mr. Biden would be nothing short of hypocrisy.

I have converted my original letter into a petition so that you might see and understand that this is a serious concern for many people in the Democratic party, and has the potential to cause some permanent damage to the integrity of the party.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Taylor Hunt
