D.Nathaniel Mulcahy ha lanciato questa petizione e l'ha diretta a Democratic National Committee

There is no question the the 2020 Iowa caucus did a disservice to the credibility of our party, but with every misstep there is an opportunity to do things better. Our elections need to be representative but as the demographics of our nation have changed our election process has remained stagnant.

Democracy can survive only when all are represented and our nation's greatness is largely due to our diversity.

According to the US census we are becoming more racially and ethnically diverse as a nation  . At one time Iowa may very well have been an accurate representation of our national population but the current reality is that as great as the state of Iowa is, its demographics do not come close to representing the demographics of our nation. Given the significance of the first step in every presidential election cycle to shape the final outcome, the current situation means that large swaths of our population are not fairly represented in the presidential race in terms of candidates or voters.

It is also worth noting that many people work late, or are disabled, or do not have childcare, so for any number of reasons are not able to participate and therefore be fully represented in a caucus.

We the undersigned, in an effort to assure our party's primary process is representative of our nation ask the DNC to change the first state from Iowa to the non-caucus state that most closely represents the current national demographics.
