"Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973), was a landmark decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in which the Court ruled that the Constitution of the United States protects a pregnant woman's liberty to choose to have an abortion without excessive government restriction." 

Under the 14th Amendment, EVERYONE living in the United States has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Roe v. Wade marks a historic moment, recognizing that anyone with a uterus has the liberty to control their own body and do what is best for themselves, their families, and their communities. 

The majority opinion draft released on Monday, May 2nd, 2022 by the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) directly opposes the inalienable right people with uteruses have to their own liberty and bodily autonomy.

In preparation for the overturning of Roe v. Wade, 23 states have legislation ready to ban abortion access. This is a heinous and incredulous act of violence against people with uteruses and is absolutely unconstitutional. No state should have the power to decide whether or not people with uteruses have a right to safe abortions, it must be federally protected everywhere as an inherent right under the 14th Amendment. 

Abortions will never stop, only SAFE abortions will stop if states pass anti-abortion legislation. Abortion access has proven significant in decreasing maternal mortality, infant mortality, and benefiting individuals, families, and whole communities. Access to abortions and abortion education evidently DECREASES overall abortions, increases safe abortions, increases early-term abortions, and decreases late-term abortions. Abortions are not just desired, they are absolutely medically necessary, and we demand their necessity be recognized federally.

We, the people of the United States, demand our state governments take action against Roe v. Wade being overturned.

We demand that our state governments challenge the Federal Government, recognizing that a threat to abortion rights anywhere is a threat to abortion rights everywhere. 

We demand that our state governments recognize the unconstitutionality of denying abortion access to anyone, anywhere in our nation, under the 14th Amendment.

We demand that our state governments pressure the Federal Government and our state representatives to end the filibuster and codify Roe v. Wade federally.
