The signees of this petition are demanding a moratorium on any future developments that violate the zoning codes and that require relief!

TO BE CLEAR, WE ARE NOT AGAINST “RESPONSIBLE” DEVELOPMENT, HOWEVER….

•  We are opposed to development that destroys existing homes; the development that builds structures bigger, wider and taller than the footprint that once existed and that require special granted permits!
• Homes are being demolished instead of preserved; causing the loss of character to our neighborhoods.
• The working -class families are being displaced and priced out of East Boston.
• The ZBA is getting away with approving anything and everything that comes across their desks.  They have no regard to the opposition of our residents or the legalities of its own zoning codes; specifically, Article 7, Article 53 and Article 27T!
• We are sick and tired of being bullied by conglomerate developers who appear to be cronies with those in authority, including elected officials.
• School enrollments are decreasing.  
  Our once vibrant community,  filled with engaged neighbors,  has now been tainted  by a new wave of investors who are only interested in profit.
• We have shared our frustrations, our pleas and ultimately, our demands with our local elected officials for several years, only to have fallen on deaf ears!  
• We have held rallies, gained attention from several media outlets and yet we are still being ignored!
