Why this petition matters

The US Government has done little regarding the situation they can only blame themselves for - Afghanistan. The Taliban have taken over. For the sake of politics, the government has decided to allow those who safeguarded if not outright committed acts of terrorism - to rule a country they swore to protect. The US Government intervened when it suited them. They did the same when it came to leaving. President George W. Bush, when he started the war, said, "We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them". 20 years later, we allow those same men to rule a country he tried to better. We failed on our promise. The people who we recognized as a threat to all of us? Those same people are who we enabled to take the reins of a country that put their faith and future in us.

My message to the US Government: Good Intent means nothing if it makes things worse. Own your actions, apologize for them, and do everything you can to make up for them. Correct your mistakes. Those who suffer from your actions aren't at fault. Don't make them pay for something they don't deserve.

In short, we want an apology from the United States Government for enabling the Taliban and the pain and suffering they cause, and I want action to help those that we hurt. Additionally, condemn the Taliban for what they caused for the people of Afghanistan. Stop playing politics.

We aren't asking for much. We are only asking for what's right.
