Demand Transparency From Met 1 Condominium Board of Directors
The Issue
Met 1 has always been more than just a place to live—it is a community we take pride in and an investment we count on to grow in value. To preserve both, we need a board that manages our building with transparency, clarity, and fairness.
Recent events at the last Met 1 Condominium Board of Directors on September 17th, 2025, meeting have raised serious concerns about how decisions are being made on behalf of residents.
At the September meeting, the Met 1 Board of Directors gave residents only 48 hours’ notice before attempting to push through a major multi year contract renewal with our management company, FirstService Residential (FSR). This contract does not expire for another 10-11 months. This rushed timeline left owners without a fair opportunity to review, discuss, or weigh in on a decision that impacts every unit owner.
Adding to these concerns, before the discussion began, the Board President, Alexa Ledezma, abruptly recused herself from the vote without explanation. It was then revealed that rumors of a family member of hers, Valerie Ledezma, is employed by FSR—a connection the rest of the board claimed they were unaware of. Despite any explanation, the rest of the board still attempted to proceed with the renewal without competitive bidding, raising even greater doubts about the integrity of the process.
Compounding the issue, the board also attempted to approve a $75,000 purchase of new pool furniture, justifying the expense by claiming the current furniture was ten years old. During the meeting, however, it was proven that this claim was false—further eroding confidence in the accuracy and credibility of the information being presented to residents.
Due to strong resident pushback, the board ultimately decided to delay both the management contract vote and the pool furniture purchase until the next meeting on October 22nd, 2025. However, during that meeting, Board Member Albin Trein stated, “there’s not going to be any biddings.” This dismissive attitude highlights exactly why we must continue to show up and make our voices heard—we will not stand for this kind of leadership.
We, the undersigned residents, call on the Met 1 Board of Directors to:
- Provide a full and transparent explanation of the Board President’s recusal.
- Disclose and address all potential conflicts of interest, including family connections.
- Pause any further action on the FSR contract renewal.
- Pause any further action on the purchase of new pool furniture
- Ensure a fair and transparent process, including competitive bids, for all major contracts and expenditures.
This is not about one or two contracts—it is about protecting our investments, safeguarding our community’s future, and ensuring that the board truly represents the interests of all owners.
