The Abu Said family’s house is uninhabitable after it was destroyed by repeated Israeli shelling. Please help us put pressure on UNRWA Gaza to build them a new home.
Nasser Abu Said lives with his daughter and four sons on their farm in Jahr El Deek in the North-East of Gaza. His house is just 340 metres from the Israeli border.
Since the siege of Gaza began in 2007, their home has been shelled nine times, nail-bombed, their children used as human shields, their livestock shot, their water well sabotaged and the men held captive in a ditch. In 2009 Nasser’s wife, Naima, was killed by a nail bomb. For more information
Even though they have 2 white flags posted outside their house, the home was last shelled – 3 times- on 28 April and is now destroyed and uninhabitable.Nasser and his children now live in a tent, where they regularly find scorpions and snakes beside their beds.
The family is constantly intimidated by the two military outposts that sit a few hundred metres from them, jeeps that patrol the border, F-16s, drones, helicopters and observation balloons.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) ignored their pleas for a house to be built until Nasser took his children, Alaa (10) Baha (9) Saad (8) Maysaa (5) and Jaber (4), to protest at the UNRWA compound in Gaza City.
Only now is UNRWA seriously considering their case. We need your help to ensure that the Abu Said family doesn’t continue to be ignored.
We, the undersigned, demand that UNRWA builds the Abu Said family house on their farmland, in a location far from the border with Israel so that it cannot be destroyed again.
