Scalping has become a serious concern in today's consumer markets. Scalpers utilize paid bots and software scripts typically unavailable to average consumers to purchase items in bulk to resell at a much higher price. These practices quickly deplete inventory and force consumers to either forego purchases or pay outrageous prices for scalped items. Companies such as Amazon have a ethical duty to provide an equitable environment for consumers to purchase the products they desire. Instead, scalpers are able to acquire and hoard supply which in turn allows scalpers, not companies, to regulate the price of these products. This petition seeks to level the playing field by demanding that large scale retail companies create safeguards that will effectively limit scalper activity by revoking scalper's ability to acquire and control majorities of available inventory. This petition further seeks to encourage resale platforms such as Amazon to limit the price gouging practices of product resellers.

Simply put, retail customers want to be able to purchase goods at retail prices. Scalpers are utilizing advanced tools to unfairly dominate retail transactions which eliminates the opportunity for normal consumers to purchase retail goods.
