Demand SADC Deny Chairmanship to President Emmerson Mnangagwa for Human Rights Violations

Demand SADC Deny Chairmanship to President Emmerson Mnangagwa for Human Rights Violations
The Issue
As someone deeply concerned about the economic state of my homeland, Zimbabwe, I am raising this petition on behalf of all those who are affected by the unfortunate politics in our country. It has come to our attention that there is a plan to give the chairmanship of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to President Emmerson Mnangagwa. As citizens, it pains us to see that a man accused of stealing the election and gross human rights abuses might be given such an important regional role.
The previous August 2023 election was marred by allegations of misconduct. The SADC themselves, in their SEOM report, highlighted these discrepancies. President Mnangagwa not meeting SADC requirements in his conduct adds salt to our wounds. Unfortunately, these wrongs are also affecting the Zimbabwean economy heavily, impacting daily lives and raising serious questions about our country's trajectory.
We urge residents in England, UK, and beyond to stand with us and help to put pressure on SADC Members to act on their election report. The looming chairmanship is not just a Zimbabwean problem but an African problem, an international problem. We request the SADC to uphold their integrity by acknowledging their own report and reconsidering their decision. Please sign our petition and support us in sending a clear message to the SADC that we demand accountability and integrity in our leadership. Let's put an end to these human rights violations and abuses.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa must step down because of the following list of items:
1 Human Rights violations
2 Corrupt Government
3 High levels of unemployment
4 Killings ,abuductions and unlawful arrests of members of the oppositions ,journalists and whistleblowers
5 Rigging of elections and unlawful removal of opposition members of Parliament
6 High levels of inflation
What are we expecting from Southern African Development Community.
1 SADC must stop the Summit in August.
2 To own to their principles and values by acting apon the SEOM report which government ZANU PF failed to meet the required standards of SADC on the August 2023 election.
3 Emmerson Mnangagwa must step down
4 Dialogue between political parties in Zimbabwe must be initiated in trying to solve the political crisis in Zimbabwe.
5 A Transitional Government must be formed in preparation for fresh elections.
6 Constitutional ,electoral and Economic reforms should be made.
7 A call for fresh elections when the election play field is even.
We plead to the Government of United Kingdom to help us to intervene in this matter with urgency.
Yours Sincere,
Zimbabwean Citizens
