The Issue

As a concerned resident of our city, I've seen families struggle endlessly with rising utility bills. Recently, our financial burdens were brought into sharp focus when we discovered that Travas Deal, the CEO of our utilities, received a $150,000 pay raise, coupled with a guaranteed six-month severance package. I was shocked and outraged to see him posting about lavish hunting trips on Instagram, boasting of his military prowess while we, the residents, face increasing financial strain.

Our city council members and the utilities board, those elected or appointed to serve our interest, have failed us. Instead of protecting residents and working towards affordable utilities, they've seemingly prioritized the financial well-being of a single executive. It is apparent that they are out of touch with the needs of the community they are supposed to serve.

When the burden of rising costs becomes unbearable for many, it shakes the foundation of our community. Instead of helping, the leadership here has continuously let us down by endorsing such unwarranted salary hikes. Residents are forced to make difficult choices between basic necessities and paying these inflated bills.

We need answers. We deserve transparency. The first step towards restoring faith in our local governance is demanding accountability from those in power. Hence, we call for the immediate resignation of the city council members and the members of the utilities board who allowed this to happen without challenge.

Moreover, Travas Deal must either resign or be terminated for actions that clearly prioritize personal extravagance over our community's welfare. Giving him a pay raise amidst rate hikes is a stark display of misplaced priorities.

It's time for change. Our voices must be heard. We need leaders who truly serve our community, not their personal interests. Stand with me in demanding these changes for a better, fairer management of our utilities. Sign this petition today to demand the resignations and termination of those who have failed us.
