Joel Grimes started this petition to Lebanon city counsel and

Where is the skatepark that was promised to us?? If you are asking yourself this question, you are in the right place.
Living in a small Midwest town, the activity options for our youths are limited. Conventional team sports are not for everyone, and should not be the only option. As a teenager, the skatepark was a home away from home for myself, and many others. Truthfully both attempts at building a skatepark have been subpar at best, and it made us the laughing stock of the region, but the park was ours and we loved it. Took care of it. Took pride in it. One member consistently took his own time and money to make additions to the park for the benefit of others.
Taking that park away from the youth of Lebanon was adding insult to injury. The blueprint images from the new Nelson park budget proposal show a new skatepark included in the 3.3 million dollar budget request, yet no skatepark. The parks department then requested an additional 870k dollars, yet no skatepark. 4.2 million tax payer dollars for 4 ball fields! That means we have 9 public ball fields and no skatepark.
If the city of Lebanon can spend 4.2 million dollars of our money on additional ball fields, the youth interested In alternative sports deserve more than a concrete pad with rusty outdated scraps of metal. It is time to come together, and demand that our local politicians keep their promises. It is time to use our voices, and let them know we care how our tax dollars are spent. Together we can make this dream and reality. Thank you all for taking the time to join this fight.
We need everyone to reach out and express their cares/concerns regarding this issue.
