Panchkula Administration should apologize for inviting Supreme Court Convict, Former DGP Haryana, SPS Rathore as a dignitary on District official Republic Day function

It is not only shameful but also a matter of anguish that the Panchkula District Administration not only invited a man convicted of molesting a 13 yr old girl, Ruchika Girhotra, by the Hon’ble Supreme Court, he was also given space on stage which was receiving salute of our law enforcing forces.

It is ironical that Panchkula Administration on a day of National Importance was actually running down all pretexts of shame. Despite writing an email to you, which was also copied to the Chief Minister, Haryana, and thereafter, presenting two representations, we didn’t receive any response. However, we got to know about the much heard “ Enquiry is on” statement through some news reports. We also came to know through one news report that the CM, Sh Khattar, is looking at legal view of whether Rathore could have been invited to the function!

We shall try to understand the legal view, possibly, there is no legal view too, because possibly nobody thought that there would be a day when such a shameless act would be possible.

However, this incident has thrown some larger questions

  1. How serious is the State Government about the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” campaign?
  2. 26 January, 1950 is the day when we, the citizens of the country gave ourselves the Constitution of India. We remember this spirit every year since that day. We also remind ourselves of the promise we made that we shall in mind and spirit protect the spirit of our Constitution. The question is that is our Administration too of the same view?

Our demand for an apology is only in this spirit. We are of the view that the Administration slept over a lot of issues, and hence made light of a holy day as Our Republic Day. It is in this light that the Administration should apologize to the citizens of country in general and of Panchkula in particular.
