Justice for Soweto School Children

On the 12th of December 2018, acting Judge Peet Johnson acquitted Johannes Molefe, a scholar patrol guard at a Soweto Primary School, of 3 counts of rape and 11 counts of sexual assault.

His victims were aged between 5 and 13 years old. Due to alleged contradictions in the young girls' stories, he has been cleared of all charges. For example: the girls could not remember dates of the alleged abuses. Girls between the ages of 5 and 13 could not remember when Molefe assaulted them.

In our climate of violence towards women and children, we cannot accept this ruling without every stone unturned.

We demand the acquittal be appealed and the case reopened with proper representation from the state.

Our failure is the ultimate failure for little girls meant to be protected by our justice system. We say no more. We say life sentences.
