DEMAND Infinix GH, Rush Energy Drink, Storm etc. Retract Brand deals with Shatta Wale
Controversial dancehall act, Shatta Wale, a featured artist on Beyonce's BLACK IS KING album, has confessed to allegations that he attempted to rape a lady friend of Nigerian music star, Burna Boy.
The Ghanaian artist, in a series of tweets and insta story posts, also accused Burna Boy of being a rapist to prove they are all the same, using this to justify his actions.
Burna Boy had earlier accused Shatta Wale of raping his lady friend he traveled with to Ghana. In a response, Shatta Wale admitted Burna’s claim and even went on to make jokes about it, describing Burna Boy’s anger against him as ‘raping jealousy’. He wrote, “Because he is a rapist, he is jealous I did same to his girl cuz (because) that’s his job. Raping jealousy. @burnaboy.” This tweet was punctuated with several laughing emojis.
Since then, brands like Infinix GH, Guinness GH Breweries, Rush Energy Drink, Boss Baker Beef Roll, and Storm Energy Drink, have failed to publically denounce the actions of their brand ambassador and retract their endorsement deals.
Millions of men and women around the world have been raped in silence. Rape is not a joke and has never been a joke. It's extremely pitiful that things like this aren't taken seriously in Ghana. To effectively send a message, we must demand that the brands pull their support or we boycott their products.
We Demand that brands publically denounce these actions and retract their brand deals by FEBRUARY 15TH, 2022, or risk facing a boycott of their products by the general public.
