The Issue

I am an Education Assistant (EA) in the North West Province, and it deeply saddens me to witness such unfair treatment from the very institution meant to support us - the Department of Basic Education. Recently, contracts for many of us serving as Education Assistants (EA's) and General School Assistants (GSA's) have been abruptly terminated without any clear explanation or violation on our part.

Our contracts outlined that the first month's stipend is mandatory, regardless of when we started. Yet, here we are, questioning why the payments due since June are yet to be released. It's perplexing and disheartening, especially when our counterparts in other provinces enjoyed their rightful six months tenure, while we are limited to merely five months.

We deserve to know why such discrepancies exist. We have fulfilled our roles diligently, only to face uncertainty and financial instability. It is unacceptable. We demand that the Department of Basic Education provides immediate answers and rectifies this unjust situation promptly.

This is not just our fight but a call for justice for every EA and GSA in the North West who faces this disparity. By standing together, we seek to ensure our contracts are respected and our stipends paid appropriately, as initially agreed.

Help us hold the Department accountable by signing this petition today. Together, let's fight for fairness and transparency in our employment terms. Stand with us by signing and shaing this petition. Your support can make a difference.
