Demand All Canadian Parties Prioritize Housing, Healthcare, and Elections in 2025

The Issue

As Canada faces increasing pressure from the US and its tariffs, the needs of everyday Canadians continue to be overlooked by politicians that put party politics and private interests ahead of the common needs of everyday Canadians.

As we move toward the upcoming election, we are calling on party leaders to commit to addressing 3 fundamental issues in their party platforms to improve quality of life for all Canadians and their families.

HOUSING: The housing crisis continues to worsen, driving up rents and mortgage payments, and increasing the cost of living in times of record rates of inflation. Consequently, we are calling on all parties to include in their platform a plan to:

  1. limit corporate ownership of single-family-homes;
  2. accelerate the construction of affordable rental housing;
  3. restrict short-term rentals in urban areas; and
  4. prohibit politicians from profiting from rental housing.

HEALTHCARE: For generations, Canadians have benefited from access to affordable and timely healthcare. That system is now threatened by crippling labour shortages and aging infrastructure that’s eroding quality of care and quality of life for Canadians. We are calling on all parties to include in their platforms a plan to:

  1. retain existing public healthcare workers;
  2. attract new healthcare workers;
  3. improve access to public healthcare services; and
  4. modernize the infrastructure that healthcare workers rely on to provide Canadians with the public healthcare services they need to lead healthy and prosperous lives.

ELECTIONS: Free and fair elections are a mainstay of a healthy democracy, but elections cannot be free or fair if they can be bought or sold. Currently, the Canadian electoral system is open to significant influence from both private and foreign interests. So we are calling on all parties to include in their platforms a plan-of-action to:

  1. limit the influence that private and foreign money has on our elections; and
  2. ensure that the votes being cast reflect the interests of Canadian Citizens.

These 3 issues impact all Canadians, regardless of political affiliation, and should be at the forefront of all Canadian Political Party Platforms.
