Demand a Plan to End Gun Violence

This past summer in a movie theater in Colorado, I was shot. Shot in the face and neck. But I was lucky. In the next four years, 48,000 Americans won't be so lucky. They'll be murdered with guns in the next president's term. That's enough people to fill over 200 movie theaters.
The recent mass shootings in Aurora, Colorado and Wisconsin were terrible tragedies and painful reminders of the cost of our broken gun laws. Next month, Americans will elect our president. Now, more than ever, we need a leader willing to address the gun violence that is affecting communities across the nation.
I’m calling on our next president to create a substantive plan to end gun violence and to take time after the election to consult with family members and survivors from tragedies like the ones we saw in Aurora, Wisconsin, Tucson, Virginia Tech, and Columbine.
I believe keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and other dangerous people goes hand in hand with protecting the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans. And what we need from our nation’s leaders is more than just a moment of silence -- we need a moment of action.
I demand a plan to end gun violence and I hope you'll join me by signing this petition.
