I have seen far too many people in tears over Delta breaking their wheelchairs. This is unacceptable, and travel should be safe for all, not only the able-bodied. Delta has done nothing over the years to fix this, and it’s high time something changed. Wheelchairs are expensive and necessary for the people who need them to have maximum mobility. Having a wheelchair be broken is losing so much more than a chair. People say it’s like losing freedom. Delta— this needs to change. This petition demands that Delta creates a safe space for wheelchairs and their users, outlines a plan of action to promote the comfort and mobility of disabled individuals in their planes, and actively ensure the safety of wheelchairs as cargo.
