Stop the Release of Excellent Teachers in Irvington

Two excellent teachers are in jeopardy of being released: Samantha Gold (English) at IMS and Patrizia Barbagallo (French) at IHS.

Administrators want to get rid of educators who are outspoken about adopting an early language program or who challenge administrators by raising valid concerns about the Master Schedule.

I admire Ms. Barbagallo for doing the right thing, even at the cost of risking her own job. The question is: Will we support her?

Both of my daughters had Ms. Gold. She's an extraordinary teacher. My daughters are very different learners, and both excelled as a result of her teaching.

I've reached out to many students about these teachers, and I've received consistent feedback: they're demanding but really good.

If you want excellent teachers with the dedication and strength to advocate for our children, please sign the petition below. Teachers should be rewarded for standing up for what’s best for our kids.

The BOE has the responsibility of assessing administrators' responsiveness to the stakeholders. In addition to this petition, these teachers have had dozens of letters sent to the board on their behalf. A lack of responsiveness should reflect negatively of administrators' performance reviews. The BOE must reevaluate the administrators' questionable decisions.
