The St Agnes to Truro Saints Trail provides for a direct, segregated, multi user path including a bridge at Chiverton. This new path would link in with the existing shared path at Threemilestone to provide a route into Truro.  Last year the Council announced it would not build the segregated Teagle Straits section and we are concerned it could now drop the bridge.

In 2018 local people came out in a big show of support for the bridge and a direct, segregated, route because they wanted to be able to cycle safely between St. Agnes and Truro.  They felt the planned 70m long underpass would be intimidating to use, dangerous to share with horses, and would add to the length of their journey.

This route could provide ground-breaking cycling infrastructure for Cornwall funded mainly with European and National Highways money. It would help the Council reduce carbon emissions, provide a healthy transport choice and save on the fuel costs of driving.

We call upon Councillor Philip Desmonde (Portfolio Holder for Transport) and Cornwall Council to:

1. Ensure the delivery of the St Agnes to Truro Saints Trail including the bridge at Chiverton within the deadline for the funding allocated to it.

2. Achieve a deliverable scheme for the direct segregated Teagle Straight section, and seek national funding for this as soon as possible.
