Petition Closed

The recent Delhi rape case was committed by youths putting up in Slums of Sec3/4 of R K Puram, South Delhi. I have worked with various NGOs through which I got to know that the security of women in such habitations is very poor and parents there tend to marry their daughters early (by the age of 12-13) for fear of rape, which is almost always committed by people living in the same slums. This usual occurrence is not visible to the eyes of the oblivious Delhiites. Only when these rapists are coming and raping women outside of the slums, does our society acknowledge their existence.
The slums are temporary structures with poor and uneducated people flowing in from many states of India and Bangladesh. With a lack of common culture and security of four-walls, women here are highly unsafe. Also, as many workers are pouring in from these far-away places, leaving their spouses, they are bound to express their sexual tendencies. This turns against the women of our city.
In light of this, I would like to raise this petition and support on behalf of all the women in this country, who have the fundamental right of living free in this country.
I believe that if these slums are dismantled and the habitants are sent back to their respective native places, the women of Delhi would feel much safer. Not the women of Delhi but women living in such horrible conditions in these slums would be safer in their native places.
Thank You for the support.
