Delay the ban of fossil fuel cars

Delay the ban of fossil fuel cars
Why this petition matters
Economic crash, chaos among society, riots, protests, people starving and with no jobs to take care of their families or themselves. This devastating situation I just presented to you could happen because of a rushed move made by world leaders. This rushed decision is the banning of fossil fuels.
The decision was made on July 27th of 2017 by the G20, an association formed by 19 countries and the European Union (EU), which take most of the important decisions in the world. Countries like China, Germany, Spain France, and many others decided to ban fossil fuel cars starting in 2030 and 2040. The reason why they decided this, is the alarming levels of carbon dioxide in the atmospheric bubble. The levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) have been increasing exponentially to a point where the levels of this component in the atmospheric bubble have doubled compared to the levels in the 1800s, specifically “Atmospheric carbon dioxide levels rose by around 20 parts per million over the 7 decades from 1880–1950, while the temperature increased by an average of 0.04° C per decade.” (Rebecca. 2020).
Even though these levels of carbon dioxide represent climate changes that we all know the consequences of, such as natural disasters and sea levels rising, something that could destroy cities like New York. We can not ignore the importance of fossil fuels to entire countries. According to BP’s Annual Statistical Review of World Energy Simply, “84% of the energy used in the world is fossil fuels”, this means that banning fossil fuels would make that percentage go close to zero (Rapier). This means that countries that base their entire economy on the production, exportation, and refinement of fossil fuels like my own country, Venezuela would suffer an economic crash so terrible to the point where the streets fill with anguished people creating chaos. And it is not only Venezuela that might be affected, but many other countries depend on this type of energy to keep a balanced economy, such as Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Russia, Nigeria, and many others.
All of these countries will be drastically affected by the rushed decision the G20 made. However, a group of experts believes the banning is possible without affecting these countries and without the collateral damage previously mentioned. They believe that the banning is happening too soon and that it should happen in a near future but not in 10 years.
