our proposed project (Kind Kids Early Learning Center).  Our mission is to serve the underserved population of children with intellectual disabilities. Our vision is to have an inclusive early learning center that is able to offer peer interaction as well as specialized therapies. I was blessed to have partnered with Lisa Prince the owner of CIMI (ABA therapy). Lisa has been working closely with MaryJo Begley and Martilette DanDridge with DSCYF. The Director of the center, Jeanie Johnstone, is working with the foster care department as well. As you can see we are connecting with many of our state departments and utilizing all resources in efforts to serve as many children as possible. I have been working closely with quite a few people to make this dream become reality. Mr. Bob Stella has given us the opportunity to secure an exceptional space. This space is in the city of Dover. While working with the city and the fire Marshall we discovered a new law that the state of Delaware adopted regarding sprinkler systems in all new day care center. After further research we now have to make the decision to either put out a vast amount of money for a sprinkler system or completely walk away from this project. While working with our architect and the City of Dover we learned we are not the only ones deterred from opening a center due to this enormous expense. I think we can all agree that walking away from something that will provide such a beneficial service to our children would be incredibly sad. I have included multiple who either have a hand in this project or may be interested in helping us overcome the obstacle that we have encountered. I am asking that we have this new code reevaluated. Delaware needs more safe and affordable childcare solutions. With this new law we are going to stunt the growth of such business. Furthermore we are going to withhold services from a population that desperately needs them. Thank you all for your time I look forward to hearing from you.
