On Tuesday September 28th 2021 Delano High School teachers were forced to remove all equity signage with a rainbow. This caused an immediate reaction from the student body. The number of incidents of bullying and harassment dramatically increased. We immediately went to administration. They claim the signs are political and can not be displayed in schools.

First the signs support human rights not a political party. Student safety should be a priority in schools. Not only have they removed signs, but they have also turned a blind eye to bulling aimed at minority students. Safety is not a political issue it is a human rights issue. 

Second by removing the sign they have sent a message to the student body that as a school they do not support their minority students. This has led to an uptick in bullying and the use of slurs against these groups. 

Finally the school is choosing to side with a religious group. This group demanded that the signs be removed from the school and the school complied. They claim it is a political issue while turning around and siding with a religious group.

Equity signage is essential to creating a safe learning environment for all students. We would love your support to bring back equity signage to our schools.
