Postpone Full-Length School Days at Del Val
Postpone Full-Length School Days at Del Val
Why this petition matters
Everybody wants to get normality back in their lives. Until that's more plausible, this petition requests that Del Val waits to return to full-length school days. Many students and teachers disagree with the decision to lengthen the school day. The decision's goal of bringing back normality is unclear seeing that the blue/gold and in-person/online days are and will still be in place. Due to social distancing guidelines, students are barred from their normal support systems that enable 7 hour school days. Many students are already having difficulty learning in an online environment and a longer session wouldn't be constructive. Some students are entirely online, which means that the online in-person students and these fully online students will be required to stare at an iPad or computer for nearly **7** hours straight. These effects also apply to teachers who need to rearrange their curriculum once more and juggle teaching and answering to students in-person and on a Zoom call. This petition isn't some plan to just wake up later; so many students are crumbling under the conditions imposed by COVID-19. Being taught for longer in an unconducive learning environment serves nobody. Until the learning environment can be improved upon, the time spent in class should not be extended.
