Dr. Tasha Davis started this petition to Dekalb District 428 and

During this pandemic our students have all suffered different hardships.  We feel that our children's education does not need to be another victim of these unfortunate circumstances.  We petition the Superintendent, Principal, School Board use the Illinois COVID-19 Re-Opening Task Force guidelines to revise the current plan and provide us with an attainable option to have an in person outdoor 8th grade promotion ceremony for Huntley Dekalb Middle School District 428 students.

We ask that they refer to the Illinois Department of Health guidance to allow in person instruction to help make this decision. We are in a new season of not just surviving, but learning to thrive in this new normal.  The parents of DeKalb Huntley Middle School District 428 should be given the option to choose for their child's own well-being which is supported by both medical and educational independent sources.

Our students have missed almost two full calendar years of in person instruction. The number of students that are receiving vital education has decreased.  Children are left with mental health challenges that they will carry with them on to high school and into adulthood.   The educational and emotional development of our children is being negatively impacted.

Please sign this petition to demand change in the 8th grade virtual Promotion of our students.  This is a great opportunity to offer an outdoor promotion to all 8th graders.  Educators are no longer able to uphold their oath to our children.  We believe that DeKalb District 428 School have the capability to create a safe environment for the families that choose to participate in a in-person Outdoor 8th grade promotion ceremony for Huntley Dekalb Middle School District 428 students.
