Use Fall Break, Columbus Day, and Election Day as Makeup Days

The DeKalb County School District has decided to extend the school day by 20 minutes from October 2nd to December 20th to make up for the four instructional days missed due to Hurricane Irma. Not only will extending the school day for such an extended period of time (basically the beginning of October to the end of the semester) be a great inconvenience to students such as myself, teachers, and parents, but this will not even make up for all of the missed instructional time. While an extra 20 minutes each day over 52 days would result in 1040 total minutes made up, this does not match the 1720 minutes missed. It would be much more efficient and convenient for the school district to use the planned fall break as two makeup days, along with Columbus Day and Election Day for a total of four makeup days.
