In 1492, indigenous peoples found Christopher Columbus lost at sea. For over 500 years, we have been fighting to defend the land, air, waters, and life of our ancestral territories from being exploited and destroyed by colonial powers. Now corporations and governments are pushing for multiple pipelines that will destroy our communities and displace anyone who is left in the wake of ecocide. It is a declaration of war.
The Defend Our Coast movement is an appropriation of hundreds of years of indigenous resistance. No one owns the land. The involvement of indigenous people is critical to the success of this movement, and that means more than simply inviting us to speak at a rally! We ask that you sign this petition to change the name to Defend The Coast, and then warrior up with us or get the hell out of the way!
Fight for indigenous sovereignty, not against it. Defend the coast.
