A suicide attempt is mostly as a result of crippling depression and it makes no sense to take away the freedom to live the life they no longer wants to live with no help or mental support for ONE YEAR! The rate of a repeat suicide attempt which is almost always successful is extremely high and the prison term corrects/achieves nothing.
