Wisconsin law states that possession of any amount of marijuana is punishable by a sentence of up to 6 months in jail or up to a $1,000 fine for a first offense, and a sentence of up to 3.5 years in prison or a fine of up to $10,000 for any subsequent offense. 

More Americans are arrested for marijuana possession than for murder, rape, aggravated assault, and robbery (all violent crimes) — combined. And black Americans are four times more likely to be arrested for it than white Americans.
