PETITION TO REMOVE THE CALIFORNIA NURSES ASSOCIATION UNION AS THE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE NURSES OF METHODIST HOSPITAL OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA / USC ARCADIA

The undersigned employees of MHSC/USC Arcadia Hospital do not want to be represented by California Nurses Association (The Union).

If the signatures of the undersigned employees constitute 30% or more, but less than 50% of the bargaining unit represented by The California Nurses Association (the union), the undersigned employees hereby petition the National Labor Relations Board to hold a decertification election to determine whether the majority of employees no longer wish to be represented by the above listed union.

Should the undersigned employee signatures constitute 50% +1 more of the bargaining unit represented by the California Nurses Association, the undersigned employees hereby request that Methodist Hospital of California / USC Arcadia immediately withdraw recognition of the California Nurses Association as the representative of the bargaining unit.

Because there is currently a contract in place, the nurses can't submit their petition outside a specific window period 120-90 days before contract expiration.  The calendar application period with respect to the contract end is September 15 to October 15 of this year 2022.  The next filing period will be after January 15th, 2023 (contract expiration).

In order for the petition to be valid, the following conditions must be met:

1)   Petition signatures should be collected on non-working time, in non-working areas.

2)   The union and employer names must be filled in before the signatures are collected.

3)   The union and employer may not assist or contribute resources.
