Lice Prevention Programs in public schools
Lice Prevention Programs in public schools
Apparently there is a myth that lice is not dangerous so we do not need to inform parents that there may be an issue in a classroom or in the school. This petition is to change the policies on helping prevent and control lice outbreaks in our school system. How are parents able to help if they aren’t informed that a student or students in their classroom was recently checked and had live bugs resulting in being sent home? If a nurse finds ANY evidence of lice it should be brought to the attention of the teacher or principal to decide if they need to inform a classroom or a larger amount of the school. However, as of now there is not a policy requiring anyone to inform parents about anything so we are left in the dark. I was not informed personally about a head check on my daughter and a week went by allowing it to get worse. This petition serves to require schools to have better policies for communication about this and to also require monthly head checks for students!
