High School Graduation Ceremony Appeal

High School Graduation Ceremony Appeal
Why this petition matters
Everyone,
As we all know, COVID-19 has affected the entire world and has taken away many "firsts" and "lasts". For example, first graduation, first day at a new job, first day as an adult, a high schooler, a middle-schooler, first-last-day as an athlete, las lunch with friends, and many more events. I'm no exception to this series of unfortunate events. The public education system in Florida has granted their senior-high-school students the gift of having an actual graduation ceremony but that is not the case for the seniors at Archbishop McCarthy High School. Our ability to celebrate our success as graduates is controlled by the Archdiocese of Miami. After many tries, they have rejected our plea. So, I am taking matters into my own hands. For the students of McCarthy and every student in Florida who is being denied their right to celebrate the victories in life, I am writing this petition and asking for your help. I hope that anyone who reads this, signs the petition, and help us, seniors, have our graduation.
Sincerely,
An Archbishop McCarthy High School Senior
