Dear Sobeys & Safeway: I don't want to buy pre-packaged produce in plastic any more!

Dear Mr. Michael Medline:

Single-use, disposable plastics are stacking up and I'd like to reduce my use.  Our local grocery stores, and consequently my fridge, are full of these items.

I shop as organic as possible in our local Safeway in Prince Rupert, BC.  Much of my organic produce comes pre-packaged in a single use plastic bag.  Currently in my fridge: broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, apples, peppers, lettuce and celery all pre-packaged in single use plastic bags, grape tomatoes in a plastic shell, garlic, ginger, onions and lemons in plastic mesh and berries in plastic containers.

Please become part of the solution.

Please put all produce out on display in it's natural state and let us take it home either loose or in a reusable bag we can bring with us.  Bring back cardboard containers for the berries. The 'Compliments' brand uses a great deal of plastic packaging on its produce and organic eggs.

Please consider adding  your name to let CEO Michael Medline of Empire Company, parent company of over 1500 grocery stores across 10 provinces in Canada including: Safeway, Sobeys, Thrifty Foods, Foodland, FreshCo and more that consumers do not need convenience packaging for our produce!
